At the Les Platanes retirement home in Saint-Avold, eight young autistic adults have their own studio. The inclusive housing program, supported by the Envol Lorraine association, allows them to gain independence in a secure environment.

Maël dreams of "a house with a sea view." The young autistic man describes himself as a solitary being. He nonetheless enjoys the company of the other residents of the Les Platanes residence . Every Monday, he participates in the sewing and craft workshop. On Wednesdays and Fridays, Maël eats in the cafeteria with the elderly residents of the building on rue Mangin in Saint-Avold. "I feel very good here," confides one of the pioneers of the inclusive housing program of the Envol Lorraine association.

Like him, seven other autistic adults have their own studio within the senior living facility. The apartments have been specially designed to accommodate the hypersensitivity of their tenants: the wall colors are neutral, the soundproofing is good, and the lighting is subdued.
